Flashy Learning

How to turn a Zoom class recording into flashcards for your students

Upload the recording to an AI tool that builds cards from video, check the deck, and share one link with the whole class. Students then review it with spaced repetition instead of rewatching the class.

Steps

  1. Get the recording. In Zoom, open Recordings and download the MP4, or copy the cloud recording link. Teams recordings work the same way.
  2. Check who is on the audio. If students spoke, trim those parts or ask for their consent first. A recording with only your voice is the safe choice.
  3. Upload the file or paste the link. Flashy Learning accepts an upload or a URL, up to 30 minutes of video per generation.
  4. Review the cards. Fix anything specific to your lesson that the AI got wrong: names, dates, numbers.
  5. Share the deck link. Every student studies the same deck, and spaced repetition brings back the cards they miss.

What you get

What it works for

It is not the right fit when students' voices or faces are the main content of the recording. Check consent and your school's data rules (GDPR) before uploading those.

What it costs

How this differs from student flashcard apps

Most tools that turn a lecture into flashcards are built for the student who recorded it. Flashy Learning is built for the teacher: you record once, and the whole class gets the same deck, with cards that can replay the moment you taught the answer.

FAQ

Do I need to edit the recording first?

Not for length if it is under 30 minutes. Trim it if it has student voices you don't have consent for, or if the useful part is short.

Will the cards be accurate?

AI cards make mistakes, especially with names, dates and numbers. Review the deck before you share it.

Can I do this on Android?

The Android app is free and builds decks from text and files. Video decks need Flashy Plus, which you get on the web.
