Spaced repetition for language classes
Students forget most of a class within days unless they review it. Spaced repetition fixes that with a few minutes of review, timed so each word comes back just before it is forgotten.
How it works
Each word or phrase is a card. A card the student misses comes back soon. A card they know comes back after a longer gap, then a longer one. The student spends their time on what they don't know yet, not on rereading everything.
A weekly routine for your class
- After class: turn the lesson into a deck of 10 to 20 cards. Use your notes, the handout or the class recording.
- Same day: share one link with the class.
- Between classes: students review for about five minutes a day. The app decides which cards they see.
- Next class: start with the two or three cards most students missed.
What makes a good class card
- One word, phrase or rule per card.
- A real sentence from the lesson, not a dictionary definition.
- Mix types: a cloze card for grammar, multiple choice for false friends, a clip card for pronunciation.
- Use the target language on the front whenever students can handle it.
Using the class recording
If you already record your classes, the recording is the best source. Flashy Learning builds the deck from it, and clip cards replay your own explanation when a student gets the card wrong. See how to turn a Zoom recording into flashcards.
FAQ
How many cards per class?
Ten to twenty. A review should take about five minutes, or students skip it.
Do I have to write the cards?
No. AI builds them from text, a file or a video. Check them before sharing, especially names and numbers.
What does it cost?
Decks from text and files are free for your first 10 AI generations. Decks from video are part of Flashy Plus, €4.99/month.
